Our impact (SDG)

We believe in the power of change. Our greatest legacy is to empower future generations and promote concrete actions for the preservation of the heritage of the Salto de Tequendama region.

It has been more than 25 years of work which, thanks to the support of our collaborators, has translated into tangible results. With every action we have undertaken under the El Salto Tiene Porvenir project, we have sought to make a positive impact not only on the ecosystem but also on the community living in the region and on each person who takes part in our awareness-raising activities.

The following are the main outcomes of our work:

Our Impact and the Sustainable Development Goals

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are the United Nations' blueprint for achieving a sustainable future for all. As part of this global effort, in 2018 we joined as allies in the Action Campaign for the SDGs and contributed to the development of the global MY World 2030 survey in Colombia, to understand the public's opinion on the challenges humanity faces today.

Our impact can be primarily framed around the following SDGs:

Through reforestation and wildlife reintegration actions, we protect the cloud forest, a very important ecosystem for preserving the region's water sources. Additionally, we support and strengthen the participation of local communities and visitors in improving water management.

At the Tequendama House Museum and the El Porvenir Farm Reserve, we aim to implement policies aimed at promoting sustainable tourism that creates jobs and promotes the culture and products of the Salto de Tequendama region.

We join the fight against climate change and, for that reason, we improve our adaptive capacity through the preservation of the cloud forest, essential for carbon sequestration and climate stabilization. We raise awareness among our visitors about adaptation and mitigation of climate change.

We contribute to the conservation and sustainable use of ecosystems and the protection of their biological diversity through our agroforestry programs and the use of silvopastoral plots. We work to end deforestation in the area by planting native species, thus recovering degraded local forests.
